The lovely cream ale from a week ago has been bubbling away in the bucket in the closet upstairs.  Today it was time to put it in the secondary fermenter.  Bacon was thrilled.  He’s been listening to beer bubble for a week now.  It’s even startled him at night a couple times.  So now it was time to take a peek!

The airlock’s off and Bacon is ready to open the lid and take a peek!  The amber liquid next to him is iodine sanitizing the equipment.

It smelled like tasty beer and yeasty yeast.  Yeast is what is all around the edge of the brew.

Taking the gravity of the beer to see if it is beer.

Bacon was excited to see the hydrometer indeed registered the brew as “Beer”!

Time to siphon it into the secondary fermenter.  It’s not done yet.

The airlock is back on and it’s going back in for another week.  After that it goes into the keg and is primed with CO2 for a couple days and then it will be ready to drink!  Notice the beer already has a creaminess to the head.  It had more but it took me too long to focus the camera.

Having a taste of the beer!  It is smooth, creamy and sweet.  Ray said he would like to see more hops in it.  But Bacon and I quite enjoyed the lack of hoppiness.  Bacon is so excited for next week when he can have a glass!
